Renowned Bengali film maker Aparna Sen will deliver the Aravindan Memorial Lecture at the 22nd International Film Festival of Kerala, at the Nila theatre complex on 10th December at 6 PM.

Aravindan, one of the forerunners of the parallel cinema movement, had made remarkable contributions to the realm of film. He had proved his mettle as a documentary film maker and cartoonist, before cementing his place in the film arena. The India government honored him with Padma Shri in 1990.

The lecture which is organized as a tribute to the versatile genius Govindan Aravindan is into its 13th edition this year.

Aravindan Memorial lecture had its inception in 2006 with the lecture delivered by filmmaker Mani Kaul.

Aparna Sen made her film debut at the age of 16 through Satyajit Ray’s ‘Teen Kanya’. She has proved her expertise in script writing along with acting. Her debut film ‘36 Chowringhee Lane’, released in 1981, elevated her to the status of master film maker, and had won her the National Film Award for the best director.
