IFFK Delegate Cell Inaugurated
The Delegate Cell at the 24th International Film Festival of Kerala (IFF) was inaugurated at the Tagore theatre, by the Minister for Cultural Affairs, A.K Balan. The first Delegate Pass for the festival was handed over to cine artist Ahana Krishnankumar by the Minister at the function.
In his key note address, the Minister said the International Film Festival of Kerala is enriched with films with diverse content from all over the world. He added that the festival has become part of the Keralite culture.
Kerala Chalachithra Academy Chairman Kamal, Vice Chairperson Beena Paul, Film Director Sibi Malayil, Actor Indrans were present. Academy Secretary Mahesh Panchu welcomed the audience, and Academy General Council member Pradeep Chokli offered felicitations.
Registered delegates will be able to collect their passes from the counters set up at the Tagore Theatre premises.
IFFK Signature Film by Joshy Benedict
Signature film marks the birth of the International Film Festival of Kerala every year. This year too IFFK is all set to welcome its enthusiastic audience with a rich and diverse collection of films from across the globe with the release of signature film on 5th December, a day ahead of the festival.
The signature film of this year titled ‘The Door Opens’ is an animated work conceived and developed by Joshy Benedict. The film depicts the sounds of the crow pheasant, the mascot of the Kerala Chalachitra Academy .
‘The Door Opens’ is a symbolic call for better cinema that will move the hearts of viewers. The music for the film is done by Santhosh K Thampi and mixing is by Anand Babu.
It is interesting to note that a large number of films across the globe this year deals with gender issues, and the festival is a call to inspire the youth to think as a collective and unite the diverse minds as one in the following 8 days and nights, all in love for cinema.
Serhat Karaaslan’s ‘Passed By Censor’ to be inaugural film
Turkish filmmaker Serhat Karaaslan’s ‘Passed By Censor’ will be the inaugural film at the 24th edition of the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK), which kicks off on December 6. The film will be screened after the opening ceremony at Nishagandhi open air auditorium. The film will have its Indian premiere at the IFFK.
The movie revolves around an individual who works as a censoring officer in a Turkish jail. His job is to read the letters to the inmates and the letters written by them. He reads a letter from an inmate and gradually loses his personal and professional integrity by being trapped in his own fantasy world, created around a photograph from the letter.
‘Passed By Censor’, Karaaslan’s debut feature, got recognized internationally when it was chosen as the Best Film by the Federation of Film Critics of Europe and the Mediterranean FEDEORA, at the 54th Karlovy Vary Film Festival.
