The angst of a young Nampoothiri widow whose desire for a Kathakali artist triggers off a maelstrom of agonies and physical tortures culminating in a Svicharam (a ritualistic trial, ostracism, and excommunication that a woman accused of adultery and her supposed paramours were subjected to). A free adaptation of the historic trial of Kuryeddath Thathri and  the forces it unleashed in twentieth century Kerala society, the movie echoes with multiple subtexts, historical, social and sexual.
