Osamu, a middle-aged man and his son, Shota, shoplifts in a grocery store, a routine they are well accustomed to. They do it to survive, but there also seems to be a connection between the two of them in the process of their act. One cold night, on their way home, they find a 4-year-old girl in the balcony, being abandoned by her family. They take the girl home and informally adopt her.
