Work on New Festival Complex to Begin in April: A.K. Balan

8 days long festival of spectatorship at the capital city comes to a close on Friday. Closing ceremony was held at Nishagandhi open air auditorium. Awards in various categories were announced and distributed in the ceremony. 190 films from 65 countries were screened in this year’s IFFK.

The awards were presented by State Finance Minister Thomas Isaac and the function was presided by Cultural Affairs Minister A.K. Balan.

In his presidential speech, Minister A.K. Balan announced the construction of a permanent festival complex for the International Film Festival of Kerala. The work on new festival complex will begin in April, announced the Minister. The new festival complex is expected to be completed within 3 years and the proposed complex will hopefully host the 25th edition of IFFK.

Russian film maker Alexander Sokurov was presented the Life Time Achievement Award by Shri. A.K. Balan. Cultural secretary Rani George, Chalachitra Academy Chairman Kamal, Vice-chairperson Bina Paul and Academy Secretary Mahesh Panju have delivered speeches.
